Scotland, Winter 2012
For our late winter holiday we decided to repeat last years trip. The first week we spent at But 'n' Ben cottage in Stronaba and the second week at Victoria Cottage in Shieldaig. The weather was superb for nearly all of the holiday, except the first two wet days, which were followed by lots of sunshine ( unusual for March ). This meant we were able to get some good walking in as well as some 'sitting out in the sun with friends' time.
We climbed Meall na Teanga ( one of the Loch Lochy munros ), Gleouraich from Loch Quoich and Maol Chean-dearg again, as the weather was perfect for the views from the summit ( unlike the year before
). We also walked from the Witches' Pool waterfalls in Glen Arkaig to the bothy at Invermallie and from Attadale House up to Loch an Iasaich in Glen Attadale. In the evenings we had some excellent views of the dark night sky, something which is always a treat as we can't enjoy this from home.
